Two Days before Alaska

Jeff and I went to Alaska last week, and it was amazing! But, I'm not done editing the pictures yet, so you have to get the trip day by day instead of all at once. No worries, though! I think the longest part of this process will be waiting for blogger to upload the pictures. You should have the full story by the end of the week.

We went with our friends A & J. It's been such a long time since we've seen them. I think the last time is when Jeff and I moved out here, and stopped by their house for a few hours to see them and their "new" 8 month-ish old baby. Said baby is now 2 and a half or so, with a little brother or sister on the way. Whew, we stink at visiting people!

We picked A & J up from the airport, and decided to do a crash tour of the area. The first stop was Multnomah Falls.
Here's A & J at Multnomah.

Aren't they sweet together?

Here's a picture of the lower falls.

I'm kind of running out of pictures to take at Multnomah, but I thought this one was sliiiightly different than normal.

And here's a picture of the upper falls.

Totally different than normal, right? I think I should get a cookie for my creativity. So after Multnomah, we realized we probably needed to be headed back to town to pick up the Nandi from doggy daycare. It was also pretty cloudy, so we figured Mt. Hood wouldn't be super spectacular to see. Instead, we decided to track down this crazy looking building that we always see on our way to Multnomah or Mt. Hood, but have never been able to find. We always assumed it was Rooster Rock State Park. But no, it's actually the Vista House, and it is super gorgeous! Check out the views of the Columbia River Gorge I took.

Plus one of Jeff looking all thoughtful and contemplative.

Next up will be Seattle and embarkation day!

The Beach!

Jeff and I went to the beach last week. He took the day off of work so we could spend one of my spring break days doing fun stuff. We went to see the tide pools at Haystack Rock.

Frozen Waterfalls

So it was cold here last week. Not like Minnesota or Iowa or Massachusetts cold, but colder than it's been in our lifetimes in Portland. In fact, it was cold enough to freeze waterfalls! : ) So Jeff, Nandi and I took a trip to Multnomah Falls to see the frozen falls. Multnomah wasn't entirely frozen, but it was moving much slower than normal.

Here's Multnomah from the parking lot. : )

And Jeff and I. Nan is there too, but she's not in the shot.

Here are the lower falls, from where we were standing in the previous picture. Doesn't it look snowy? Notice how everything else is brown and ugly and now snowy? Yeah, the weathermen here lie and make me sad when they promise me snow that doesn't show.

Here are the upper falls:

Check out the blue green color that showed up in the upper falls!

On our walk back down from the upper falls (on the bridge) we noticed that there was nobody on the bridge. That never happens, so I made Jeff whip out the camera super fast and get some pictures. I don't mind people in pictures, but only when I know them. ; )

Then we hiked over to Wakheena Falls. We saw this little wall of icicles on the way.

And here is my favorite wall that normally has water trickling down it. Obviously, there's a good bit of water there when it freezes; people were climbing it when we walked by.

Here's Jeff and Nandi near the bottom of Wahkeena.

And me and Nan; you've gotta watch out for this one! She's got sneak attack kiss issues that I was just recovering from. : )

Here's Wahkeena from the bridge that was crazy icy and scary to walk on, so I made Jeff do it.

The same spot with a slow exposure.

And more Wahkeena with some cool ice.

There was this cool log with a ton of horizontal icicles on it.

And here's Jeff, Nandi and I at Wahkeena (don't mind Jeff, he has balance-while-on-ice-with-a-dog-issues).

Memorial Day Weekend

Hey all, it's Jeff. For now, I'm just going to post some pics from last weekend. Enjoy! (As always, click on the image for the full size version.)

ETA: HA! He thinks he's going to take my blog over that easily? The silly didn't even bother to caption his 10 gazillion pictures he uploaded. So I did it for him. I'm a super awesome wife.

Me and Mommy at the Japanese Gardens.

Dad and H looking thoughtful at the view of Portland from Pittock.

A flower both Mom and Dad noticed and know the name of, but that we can't remember the name of.

Jeff and G went hiking super duper early one morning at Multnomah Falls.

I guess G wanted a picture of those 4 rocks or some such thing.

Isn't this one pretty? The trail is empty and pretty, wandering off to who knows where (well, Jeff and G know. I think I know, too, but it's been awhile so I've prolly forgotten.)

I pink puffy heart this picture. Jeff and G were playing with sunshine rays.

Jeff said this flower smelled fantastic. But did he bring one back for me to sniff? Nooooooo . . .

My Fairy Falls! I love them most of all. And that's somthin' because there are LOTS of waterfalls on that hike.

Looking over at Washington.

In case you didn't know, the morning fog was still around. ;)

So there's this wall that has all of this awesome moss on it and these beautiful little sparkles of water trickle down it. Faeries totally love to live in Oregon. Now if I could just meet one . . .

Wahkeena.

My mountain!

My family and me, minus Jeff. Because someone had to take a picture of us!

Hmmmm . . . looking down Multnomah Falls, maybe?

Uncle J happened to be in the area and came over to visit for awhile. Summit loooooves him. She's got her blissed-out Yoda face on.

G's GQ pose.
